Car won't start/CEL on
I've got a 98 Civic LX, 98k (or so). D16Y7 Engine. I've had continual prblems with the check engine light on, and intermitten problems starting (it seems [I]usually[I] when it's hot). Has on occaision shut off while driving (just today, driving on the highway, in the pouring rain, at 65mph.....NOT fun).
The check enging light / OBD code is a P1457: evap leak in canister area. I have a copy of the service manual, and I went through the diagnostic flowchart associated with the OBD code. Everything has come up 'ok', until I got to the test for the Evap two way valve....I need a vacuum pressure guage, which I don't have. (I do have a vacuum pump guage).
What I'm stuck on is what else it could be...If there is a leak on the canister area, the problem should be up there....not back by the gas tank (where the two-way valve is).
What else can I test to try to isolate the prob?

The fuel filter and ignition wires were replaced about 6 months ago. Spark plugs are in good condition. I have been adding injector cleaner every oil change...dunno if it helps, but cant hurt. Gas cap has also been replaced, as well as FI main relay.
I'll check both of those asap. Tommorrow I can also get a pic of the canister area....there is one hose that looks like it need a home, but I was sure it was ok. Maybe I can get a pic for someone to confirm.
