H22/b18c
I am station over seas and im only a 2 hr drive from the uk.Im looking in to doing a engine swap for my 99si I'm looking at either the h22 type r or the b18c type r if I go h22 I'm looking at a H2B. Is it worth the money for the h2b or just go with the b18c I have a A b16a2 in it now with a fully built head what should I do
In short, the h2b is worth the money. It's really not much more expensive than your standard b-seres swap.
A full type-R swap from hmotors is ~$3700 without shipping.
An h22 longblock and an ITR transmission from them is ~$2400. That's plenty of money left over for the QSD kit and whatever else you need.
Besides, the price difference even if you did save money would never be able to recoup the loss of 30ftlbs of torque and 40 horsepower.
2.2L > 1.8L
It's simple math, you can't bolt on .4L of displacement.
