Default 93 Del Sol stall and won't start - Possible ECM problems?

I have a 1993 Del Sol approx 150K miles. ran great until a month ago it started dying while driving and then won't start up. City Garage replaced the fuel pump. drove it (3) days, dies again and won't start. Now City Garage wants to replace the ECM! VERY expensive repairs, any thoughts on if this correct or did I get sold a fuel pump when it didn't need it? Thanks for your help.

You need to do some diagnostic tests when the engine WON'T start:

1) Does the fuel pump prime?
2) Does the CEL stay on steady when the key is turned to ON(II)?
3) Is there bright white spark at all four spark plugs?

I had a similar problem with a 93 del sol and it ultimately was the ECU. I had replaced the fuel pump several times and it seemed to help but only for a few months. I also tried the main relay, ignition switch and cleaned the grounds. My ECU had moisture oxidation on the outside of the ECU and I assumed the moisture got to the inside circuit panel. I got a replacement ECU P28 for an automatic for $135. That fixed it.

Do what Ron said first than do this..

Check your battery voltage and make sure its around 12v. If its lower than 11v. I would check your charging system. (Alternator) Check all your grounds and clean up any corrosion on terminals.

Thanks everybody for the info! Turned out to be the ECM and the fuel pump combined.
