Scratch/Gouge on Intake Face (Head Side)
Hi Everyone, Im kinda newb here.
First of all i wanna apologize if any of my question below sound so noobish.
Yesterday i tried to change my stock IM to skunk2 IM, but the problem was the old IM gasket couldnt be remove with just some gasket remover chemical or what so ever.. so ive use a gasket scrapper for the first time and i blew it..
Theres some scratches and gouge all over the face.. what should i do?.. should i just take the head to the nearest machine shop and mill the IM face?.. or should i just sanding all the scratches and gouge..
FYI: Im using b16b head.
Please help me..
Im so confused..

most machine shops machines arent set up to resurface the intake's surface, you'd be darn lucky to find someone that will have one set up for it.
Best bet is to try and sand off the overhangs best you can and use some sort of silicone or Hondabond to seal it up with a new gasket.
Thanks for your reply jdmcivic2fast, may i know if sanding would do any better, or i should just throw away my head for good?... cause im planning to bolt my engine in the future, wouldnt like any vacuum leak.. what do you suggest..Does my case consider rare and unrepairable.. i just bought it though...

trashing the head is a bit much.
there are few things that requires trashing the head, and scratching the intake face is not 1 of them
post up pics an we'll look at it

i doubt you've gauged it enough to throw away, or even to require pulling and sending to a machine shop...
most gaskets are soft enough to conform to irregularities and gouges...
so, post some pics.

Most of the time unless you took a hammer and chisel to the aluminum, all you have to do is lightly apply some honda bond over the gasket face when installing the gasket and it will seal any scratches etc.
Thanks guys for helping me out
After reading comments from you guys i think my problem is no biggie... After carefully sanding the intake face, it looks fine by now. My camera phone doesnt have macro function, posting the pics wont do much..but i will try to upload the pictures soon on what ive done..
