Okay Il'l try to be as clear as I can for you techs. I own a 97 hatchback civic BONE STOCK. So I recently had an alarm installed, and here's the problem.....

I was exiting the highway to go to school, put it in neutral and let the car roll through the hill and all the sudden the Battery Light & Oil Light came up. put it back in gear, it goes away. As you know, there are tons of stop signs in school zones, so the problem happened continously everytime I had it in neutral. It even stalled on me once while slowing down to a stop sign. I started, it fired back up with no problem. From the research I've done (IN CLASS )some says it could be alternator or dizzy?

So... 6 hours later after class, I checked alternator belt n everything made sure battery terminals weren't loose or anything, started the car and drove home w/ NONE of those symptoms I've experienced earlier. Could anyone give me some hints/tips on what the problem could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

 

Aww 46 views and no answer Well I checked .. Turned car on, took off negative terminal car was still on running. So it's not my alternator, or the battery since it's new (I'm assuming). What's left .. electrical?

 

I had a similar problem because my terminals were some what "loose" and it ended up being my ignition coil.

Not sure if that's the case here though.

 

Hrmphhh, thanks for your feedback. I'm gonna see what it does today while driving to school we'll find out if it was the "loose" terminal case or what not.

 

Okay, so I had the car with the + terminal loose, started it, and pulled the terminal off. Car was still on running.... so it can't be that now

 

So the problem only started happening after you installed an alarm? If so then the wiring should be suspect.

 

so oil and battery light come on in neutral?
how is your idle?
automatic trans?

 

I had the same thing happen, but it's after an instrument cluster swap. Anyone figure out this problem?
