b18b want to die at idle after warming up
ok a have a 94 integra with a b18b. i bought the car a month and a half ago with a tick in the head. so i decided i might as well do a full tune up so i bought it to my mechanic for new water pump timeing belt and a valve adjustment. when i got it back if i drove then clutched in it would wanna die it wont but it will idle really low and bounce alot. i didnt have a check light so i unpluged the map senor to see if a check light comes on. and now it runs fine with the map unpluged but it seems to burn more gas. any help to slove this will be appreciated. thank you for your time.
your sensor might be bad. When you unplug, ecu goes to default which is not efficient, but a safe number where it wont harm anything doesn't matter what the conditions.
could it be bad and not throw a code? because it doesnt throw a code but runs bad then i unplug it and it runs good and throws the code cuz its not plugged in
alright and is it true that the d series map sensor is the same or should i get one for a b series because i have spare d series map sensors
If you disconnect the manifold absolute sensor and the check engine light doesn't come on it is either the sensor or the ecu.I swapped my 94 integra engine in my 92 eg but the map sensor for the eg civic is mounted externaly from the throttle body so i would go with the b serices.I guess you could you a d series if you ran a vaccum source from the intake manifold but you would have to leave the old sensor in place or plug the hole once removed.I hope this helps alittle.I have like 5 or six of the b series map sensors laying around.Where r u from?
Sorry i forgot i would suggest checking your timing first since you just had work done in that area. The map correlates with coolant temperature in order to make timing changes and fuel injector duty cyclesfrom the ecu.

ok guys well today i changed the map sensor and nothing this weekend i guess ima check the timing and adjst the valve lash myself ans see if that help any more advice would be appreciated
Another thing might be to clean ur idle air control and relearn it.If the tech changed the water pump when doing the timing belt there may be air trapped in the cooling system.Which would do what you are say if the air is in the FITV fast idle thermal valve.I dont think i would go as far as adjusting you valve lash yet unless you notice abnorl noises from up top or if you can feel valve flotage. If you have an email address i can try and send you a acura factory pdf manuals.I don't know if i can attach it by i am will to try.Just hit with a personal message.Peace

I know that on the fit valves that they usually make your idle high and rev up and down.I have taken them apart and there is a little white plugger screw cap inside you can adjust.Becuase they come loose from vibrations. But that is someting totaly diffrent.Even cleaning your throttle body and plate might help.I am just throwing at u the easier steps.Have a good one and if you want me to hit you up with that factory PDF let me know.Peace
