Default Screwed timing belt

So i had my timing belt and all my other belts replaced at honda a few months back. last week my timing belt shifted over on me and i brought it back to them. they said that one of the screws for the idler pulley broke off and i would have to pay them $1500.00 for them to redo it all over again. isnt this something that should of been checked out on the first time around so that i wouldnt be in this situation?

Yes and no. If there was an obvious problem a honda technician should have caught it. It is not always possible to tell if a bolt is going to break. Now that is not to say that the tech did not over tighten it and snap it. I would go back to the dealer and ask to speak to the service manager. I would think they could help you more in this situation since it has only been a few months.

i wonder if they put in a new timing belt tensioner for you? on 97+ ludes, there's a problem of failing auto tensioners that would throw the belt off as well.
