Faulty Gauge Cluster / Failure
Car is a 2001 Civic EX manual transmission
symptoms: turning key to the On position results in the gauges coming online, the normal beeping, flashing lights. The Odo reads 8888888 though... Upon starting 80% of the time the cluster goes "dead". The only thing that shows is the illuminated "BRAKE" light and the 888888888 on the odo.
At times when its either hot outside during the summer months, the cluster will be more functional. It'll often times display the speed and tach reading. Sometimes the gas is right but most of the time its not. Odo is almost always 8888888888. On rare occasion the Odo will actually show the correct miles. When the cluster does decide to work often the tach will be jumpy, and not give an accurate reading as it will jump around.
I've done the gauge cluster diagnostics and it passes all the "tests"

So long story short, it appears that some people have replaced clusters with new ones and have had good luck. While I hunt for the right cluster, does anyone have any new ideas to try?
Maybe if someone has a lead on a wiring schematic or something?
If anyone has a spare cluster in the So.Cal area I could test with, that would be awesome too.
I'm open to options.
