horrible gas mileage...please help!!
Well, I have a 96gsr. All it has is a AEM CAI in terms of engine mods. I dont really drive all that aggressive for the most part. I shift between 3-4k, and probably only hit vtec once or twice a week. My smog numbers were crsytal clean (6, 6, 4)..something of that sort. About half of the average values. Well i got about 79 miles for half a tank in this past week. Im not throwing and check engine lights either
any ideas??? besides someone is stealing my gas, because i can see the drop each time i drive.

Maybe a tune up will help?
New plugs/wires and o2 sensor.
Than disconnect ground wire for a couple of minutes. Reconnect and start car and let idle for 10 minutes without touching gas.

fuel filter
then try valve adjustment, and check out the air and fuel system.

check your timing.
When I was breaking my motor in after a rebuild, I purposely set the timing a little on the low side. 14 BTDC+/- I was getting about 200 miles per tank.
About 4 hundred miles ago, I advanced the timing to 17BTDC (factory is 16BTDC) and am now getting about 250 miles per tank.

I don't post on this site much because I rarely have any useful information. In response to SLOW CRX's post, however, visit http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2001/02/zmax1.htm. It seems that Z-Max does do something... as it's crapping-up your car.
Be VERY wary of Mechanic-In-A-Can stuff; the only thing I know to work is Restore.

thats the thing, im not puffing any kind of smoke, and I dont see any gas dripping from the tailpipe. If it was the fuel filter, wouldnt I be bogging and what not? It was also replaced 1000 miles ago
