Rod bearing clearances too tight!!
Heres the setup:
a6 block
y8 head
eagle rods
vitara pistons
acl race bearings
bored to 75.5mm
I'm assembling the shortblock right now and checking bearing clearances with plastigauge. Main bearing clearances look all good at around .0017-.0018.
But all the rod bearings are measuring out at a little less than .001 looks like about .0007-.0008. Way too tight right?
So I guess I'm gonna have to go with oem bearings for the rods,
Can anyone help me figure out which bearings I'm gonna need?
The acl's are supposed to be standard which are green correct?

I'd just take the rods to a machine shop and get them resized using those bearings. I'm not sure if you'll be able to hit a sensible clearence using the smallest honda bearing.
I plastigauged a different set of fj rods on the crank and I'm right at .001 clearance. Can a machine shop take some material off the crank? Like .001 so that would put my clearances to . 0018 or .0019? or should I just get the rods bored out a little?
Well, I've been looking around on the net and I've found the acl hx bearings which are supposed to be .001 thinner to give you that much more clearance. These would put me right at .0018 or so. I think I'll try them before I pull the rods back out.
