Default Smoke coming out of exhaust

Ok well here's the deal my girlfriend has a 98 Honda civic ex auto well she accidently put alittle too much of oil in her car & didn't knw when we went to go out ,not even to corner it was smoking from exhaust so we decided to go bck home .I checked the oil & she had too much in there so I baught new oil filter & did an oil change & refilled it to where it needs to be. when you turn it on it'll still smoke a lot so I left it running for a bit then it wasnt smoking as much starting to jst smoke alittle then waited alittle bit then drove it like 20ft & it would barely smoke but when stop then give it gas it would smoke alittle, what do i need to do jst keep it running more till it blows all the bad smoke away?

How much is too much? Everytime I get an oil change they always put too much in maybe half up from the top line, never had a problem, but I burn a lot of oil anyway.

Well her car never burned oil...when we were going out the first time before I checked her oil. We were driving & there was a lot of white smoke coming out smelled like oil .we got to corner the turned & around drove back home. So I decided to do oil change lot of oil came out.. & when I put in the new oil. Turned on car it was still smoking then drove it around block & still smoking a lot . Got home left it running then the smoke stopped coming out as much.. but would smoke whenever I would be stopped then give it gas. Shld I turn on & let all that bad smoke go away

Sounds like her rings are going out. Once all the metal gets up to temp the clearances can change quite a bit. Just keep an eye on the temp gauge and check the oil level every once in a while. Unless you wanna pull the motor apart and do piston rings and valve seals..

So basically you were not driving that much with a lot of oil in it?

Sounds like there was a ton of oil in there, which way too much can be bad as too little oil.

Maybe you will get lucky since you caught it fast, and the rest will burn out the exhaust, just watch it for a few days.

I think if damage was done it was done.

I would drive it and watch it, look see if there is smoke, or engine noises etc.

Drive it and watch your vitals like a hawk.

Probably almost every system in the car is full of oil.

If the smoke was a thick white color with a tint of blue, It's just too much oil in the car and it should be fine.

that problem sounds like you probably flooded the engine just a tiny bit, like civic junkie and a few more people have told you, just drive it normally and it should burn out.
