Ok b4 i flammed, i searched high and low for direct answers via google and just found a bunch of useless garbage so i decided to start a thread.

Now currently i have a hx head on a d15 block....motor is pure garbage cant go past 4k with out leaving a Mach 5 style smoke screen behind me lol, my friend sold me a complete y5 swap for 100 which is a steal.
I know that the y5 and y8 share the same casting but the hx is on rollers with a higher lift in the cam duration then that of the y8 along with a crappy 2 stage vtec, now i want to make power with the hx head, i am willing to swap out the the ITM as well as the dizzy, i am not going to swap the head for a y8.

My questions are
1 would it be wise to get my spare head shaved .20 for a bump in compression
2 can i run a stage to cam in the hx head on a tuned p28
3 can i remove the egr valve with out cause a issue or just plan swap it out for a y8 or an after market ITM
4 is there anyway i can have single stage vtec instead of the Ballin *** 2 stage vtec

Sounds like you need a Y8 head, seriously don't waste time and money on the Y5, you'll just be disappoint.

 

Grrr, i was up until 4am reading other post and no one is happy with it.....i really dont want to ditch the HX head, but everyone everywhere is saying the head is junk.....i have a spare Z6 head..i might just throw on a y8/y7/y5 cam gear on it and slap it on the y5.

really just want to do the impossible and make power useing that head.

 

you really cant the HX is designed to be an economical engine strictly thats why it has lean burn mode also why r u so stubborn on using the y5 head

just put a z6 head or a y8 head on it and call it a day until in a few months it blows up cause it eventually will

Im giving up lol...gonna chop up a y8 mani change the runners out and slap on a z6 head with a 100 shot...then sell the car..should be able to pull out 4k when i put her on the market
