hey guys i need some help! can anyone identify this engine this is civic lx 95 non vtec with a swap but idk wat engine this is the block says d15b the intake and distributor are from the previous engine, the swapped engine came with an intake with the filter close to the throttle body also a non vtec, please help!

 

that is a vtec motor. the spark plugs are in the front. if u think its not vtec, why do yiu think its not. does it have cels or anything. does vtec not work

 

I used to think that too but its not true there are non-VTEC motors with spark plugs in the front. OP does it have a VTEC solenoid? It should be on the left, backside of the head its a lil greyish sphere with a wire running to it.

 

hmm sohc vtec. d15b3 carb engine. d16y4 intake manifold good work

 

if it's a non-vtec, i'd have to say its a d16y7 with a manifold swap. valve cover seems like its off an ek.

 

if the block says its a d15b then it should be vtec unless the guy you got it from put a d16y7 head on it but why would anyone do that

 

It's a OBD2 block. Notice the dip stick on the timing cover side.
Intake and exhaust manifold are the original LX
Valve cover from Civic 96-00

 

i didnt notice that good point it might be a y7

 

There are cast marking on the cylinder head. Including manufacture date(month/year).

You can find it above the exhaust manifold.

 

obd2 jdm d15b's came with (1) dual vtec or (2) no vtec.
non vtec was same head as y7.
i don't see a vtec solenoid in that pic.
