Default Would a P2P ECU work with a D16Y7?

I have a choice of running with a P2P ECU on my D16Y7,

Or I have a chipped P28 that I could use with it.

How would I go about doing this?

Should I get the P2P or use the P28?

And I also understand that the P28 is for Vtec, but I have a d16y7, so that's why I'm a bit confused lol.

I'm a noob so help me out.

A p2p ecu is for a d16y8 vtec engine with a 2 wire iacv (5 speed model).
A y7 motor is a non-vtec engine which uses a 3 wire idle air control valve.

You will need a y7 ecu or a chipped obd1 p28/p06/p75/pr4/p05 ecu with the iacv disabled for your y7 engine. If you choose this route I would recommend going to an intake manifold that uses a 2 wire iacv & re-wiring the iacv plug to 2 wire etc.

Thanks for the response.

I have a Z6 intake mani on the d16Y7 right now if that helps. How much do shops normally charge for disabling the iacv? My P28 is already chipped but I'm not sure if the iacv has been disabled.

If you have a z6 intake manifold chances are you have a 2 wire iacv wired up so you don't need to disable the iacv.

You may order a 28 pin eprom chip basemap from our website
http://www.phearable.net/shoppingcar...emap-p-60.html
& drop it into the ecu your self.

There is an instructional video on our website on how to change your eprom chip in an already socketed ecu.
