It's more than likely the electrical portion of the ignition switch and not the ignition cylinder itself.

I have found that if i wedge the key with something into the normal running position that it stays running and that after a few minutes i can remove the wedge and the key will stay in place, which leads me to think that it is a barrel issue. Also i know that there was a recall for the ignition barrel, on both left and right hand drive models, and i was wondering if there might be anyone out there who has had similar issues, and knows how to rectify this.

I've never seen this on an odyssey but many time on civics. Actually happened to me while I was on a road trip and had to jam my shift **** in between the key and the dash... Replaced the ignition switch.
