Default Do they need to be timed?

Silly question, my balance shafts are no longer in use and they are not in the motor. If i put them back in but dont run the belt for the gears do they still need to be timed? Also if anyone has used the delete kit from bisi or kazien could you just give me some info as far as install. Thanks guys

I think timing is done via the marks on the crank pulley and with a timing gun. that usually only gets done if you remove the distributor without marking where it is.

...i think you misunderstand the question.

OP: if the belt's off and you "time" the B-shafts... as soon as the motor is started they'll be out of time because the aren't spinning...

i installed the Kaizenspeed kit on my F23. very easy. i didn't even need to use a shop press like the instructions say. A large C-clamp worked just fine.

question: why would you be reinstalling the shafts if they are not in use? if you're trying to save money (those kits aren't free, i know) there is a DIY somewhere on how to eliminate the shafts without buying the kit. most of the items i believe were found at the local hardware store. it's strictly "at your own risk" though. the $120 or so that the kits go for is worth it for the first time around.

*facepalm* of course not. i may look into the free version but i will probably end up buying either bisi or kaizenspeed. Any pros or cons about either one?

You only need to buy the eliminator kits if you interested in aesthetics or shaving a pound or two. Otherwise you can leave the shafts in without the belt and there will be no consequences. Ran my H22 Accord that way for years.
