Default b18c-r Eg running lean (dyno pic)

hi, got my b18c eg dynod at tdi north (uk) yesterday. and the lads told me the car is running very lean. not sure on what steps to take next, any info appreciated. the engine is standard apart from aem cai, rmf rep, and mugen twinloop, running on a standard jdm itr ecu. They put a probe in the back of the exhaust to check the afr, heard this is inaccurate due to it picking up extra air from blowing exhaust, as the exhaust was blowing only very slightly, also there was a vacumm pipe missing from the back of the manifold, also the spark plugs arent white..

If you're using the stock ITR ECU and have intake and full exhaust that's your problem. I'd highly recommend installing a programmable ECU. (ie: chipped P28 running Crome, Hondata, Neptune, etc.) From there your tuner can increase the injector pulsewidth to increase fuel. Using the tail pipe is somewhat OK as long as you don't have a catalytic converter. If your car does have a CAT, then your readings are completely wrong. Also, if you have an open vacuum line, this will definetely lean it out..

i thought that honda ecu will compensate with extra fuel to stop it running lean. ive put standard air box on, and sorted vacumm leaks, so i will be getting a tuner to put a wideband in and check it then.

So do you have a catalytic converter?

Measure the fuel pressure and check whether the FPR is working properly.

hi, if the fpr wasnt working correctly, there would be less fuel obviously, there would be no way it would of made no where near that power if that was the case?? thanks

Do you know how lean the engine is running? What are the numbers? There are degrees of lean, right? An extremely lean air/fuel mix would surely affect power. A mild degree of lean might not have a large effect.

Do what HA suggests you need a programmable ECU, the stock unit will only compensate so much for a stock engine running out of stock parameters. You like 216 hp, no way a stock ECU will work correctly.

Get the car tuned. You are missing power from 3500-6000 rpms.
