Default Running rich....why?

Ok I noticed my performance has been a little lacking. I kinda confirmed it at my last track outing with my low trap speeds. I have been noticing that my car has been running really rich (exhaust) and confirmed it today when I checked the plugs. They are totally black. What will cause the car to run rich? My only mods are intake and test pipe running open header on occasion.

Could it be my iginition? Such as bad wires or rotor button. I'm not sure if the car would compensate by running rich so tell me if I'm stupid or wrong. Any other ideas would be helpful.

I have the same problem but I am fairly stock except (intake, header, exhaust) and OBDI chipped computer. Should I be resetting the ecu everytime I plug in a new chip? Also, if I get a B&M fuel modifier can I turn down the fuel from the stock level or no. It seems my A/F gauge is telling me I am rich throughout the whole power band.

Thanks,

AW
