car blowing black smoke after hesistantly starting
Hey everyone my '92 civic si is having problems starting and when it does start it it blowing black smoke. From my understanding this sounds like a bad air fuel mixutre but my car is fuel injected and I would like to know what can cause this. Also my check engine light is on and when I jump the diagnostic port it reads a bad ECT sensor. I know a bad ECT can cause this but would it be this severe and will a trip to autozone to buy the new sensor fix my problem right away? How much damage could this have done to the rest of the engine?
Fix code 6 and then go from there. Have you checked the ECT sensor connector and wires? Have you measured the sensor's resistance? It should be 200-400 Ohms with the engine fully warmed up.
