Default intermediate engine cut out

i have a 1991 honda civic ef hatch with a d15.
when im driving the car after a couple miles it starts to cut out or loose power as if a couple cylinders stop working.. and when i try to give it gas to keep it running it gets worse to the point the motor shuts off and stops working completely. and when i try to restart it doesnt and on the rare times it starts it runs like crap. after i let it sit for a couple of minutes it starts up and runs almost fine..

i have done practicly everything i can think of to sort out the problem and nothing seems wrong..
i need help with this issue. any suggestions will help!

You may want to list what you have checked as you may get a ton of replies for things you may have already checked.

I would def check the main relay, as with most of these cars the main relay usually is a place to start.

When they car dies and quits working, when you turn the key on do you get a fuel pump prime/purge? Have you checked to see if it's not getting spark after it dies?
