Overheating!! Need Suggestions

Default Overheating!! Need Suggestions

I have a 2001 accord sedan v6... i turned the ac off after aout 20 mins of driving and the temp needle started to jump.. so i pulled over and i seened that the hose that goes from the radiator to the coolant resovoir.. i open up the thermostat housing and there was no thermostat so put one in.. today when i drove to work i smelt antifreeze but it didnt over heat.. i looked in the radiator and it looks corroded.. the radiator is a lil bent also.. help please


UPDATE::

Just got home from work.. i had the ac on the whole time and the temp. needle was jumping up and down.. when i got home both fans were running.. but it still overheated.. all help greatly appreciated

Did you bleed the coolant after replacing the t-stat....and sorry, I have to ask that you installed the new one the correct way?

From there, are the cooling fans running (without ac on) when the car starts to overheat?

radiator is bent-i would replace that for sure.

did u install the thermostat correctly , because if you smell the coolant then it can be leaking

Yeah when you install a new thermostat you have to re-fill the whole system and bleed it so it's pressurized properly. Good luck.

Run the car with the radiator cap off and of course open the cap when engine's cold then start up the car. Let it idle for with radiator full for about 5-10 mins to let all the air bubbles out.

Also, you'd want to install the Thermostat with the air hole at the top or pointing up.
