My car will turn over but not start, but when it does start it will die. Sometimes this will not happen at all and it starts fine. And when it eventually starts it wont die like at the lights or while driving it. Its just when I go to start it sometimes.

I would say it starts fine like 85% of the time but 15% of the time it just turns over and like I said if it starts when its doing this it will die right away.

I have a new cap on it and new spark plugs, the wires are old.

Any ideas ? ?

 

Does the fuel pump prime? Should be a buzzing or humming coming from the rear seat are. You might also be able to hear a clicking coming from behind the dash fuse box

 

When it won't start, check for spark and fuel.

Depending on what you find, resolder the main relay and/or have the igniter unit and coil tested.

A new main relay from honda is only like 60-70 bucks. I would be willing to bet thats what it is. Very easy to install.

 

I went to the car and put the key in and just turned it till I could here the fuel pump prime. I primed 15 out of 20 times I did it. 5 times it did not prime. Should it not prime every time ? ?

 

Yea im starting to think its the main relay from what ive been reading. It seem to be a problem for our cars, thanks so much for your help =]

Thanks alot man, I checked my main relay and it had the problems so I grabbed one from Honda =] So far so good =]
