Hey all.. new to HT... Ive been doing a lot of searching and researching for my next vehicle .. looking for something to replace my Jeep cherokee. Thinking of a 94-96 Civic .. something that wont cost an arm and a leg more than what I will get for my Jeep. ( 94 , V6 120k miles) Looking for a bit of direction i guess, which models respond well to mods etc.. as I will probably put a lot of work into it over time. Just curious.. besides getting probably 3X the gas mileage as my jeep .. how does a stock civic perform for daily driving (passing, highway etc) and are mods worth it if i dont plan on swapping the engine ... Any help or info at all is greatly appreciated .. Thanks .

 

welcome. that's a broad question but almost any honda year will be worth modifing and will have decent power out of the box. check out anything from 90+, manual transmission, and the top engine for that model. there are plenty of good daily drivers to choose from but it depends on what you want to do. you otta go to yahoo autos and research the vehicles.

 

Thanks ..Checked out the civics in my area .. 6k for a 93 with 135,000 miles? Seems pretty steep to me ..There were a few 95s in that price range.. mostly newer cars on there .. Is my assumption that i could find a ~95 with ~100k miles for 3500 wrong then? Id probably get around 3000 for my vehicle ..and be willing to spend another 1500 .. Was hoping to fit in i/h/e in that 4500 also .. maybe i need to rethink my budget.

get a 92-95 cx hatch back its small ,light and fast.

and its bad *** because it has a whopping 70hp plus its fun to throw a b16 or b18 into it and watch it go

 

You could probably go with an eg (92-95) hatch/coupe/sedan whatever you want, they're a lil zippy and if you drop in b18c (integra gsr) it will be more zippy and have torque ALL honda's respond well to mods as far as like availability, if you mean gains a swap is good for money and reliability then you can build the internals, change manifolds, cams, etc. An eg swap with a couple (expensive, turbo...) mods or a full built internal can get pretty easily into 13's and still be daily driveable (ask mista bone, though for his 13 he gassed it it was a flat 13.0)... EG's are cheaper than EK's (96-00) so you can get more moeny towards the swap... just a plan

oh, and ALL 92 (hatches... sorry) are wired for VTEC so if you can find a clean 92 doesn't matter what mileage cuz you'd swap anyway and it's a little less hassle during the swap

Get a DX. It at least starts with over a hundred horsepow's. Then gut it. It will at least seem fast. $3500 car + $1500 shocks/springs/tires.

thats the stock cx that only comes with 70 right? is it the same 70 hp for each year. ugh.. too much college for me today
