In fact women are almost MORE predictable.

Low side 50-55psi high side 270-275psi at around 95f
suction tube is cold
discharge tube is warm
pressures equalize very slowly with compressor(new) off
condenser fan works
blend door is working properly
no leaks (uv tested, even the evap)
vacuumed to -29inhg for 45 min
charged BY WEIGHT as per honda's manual with a digital scale

its still. not. f#*&ing. cold.

tepid if anything.

Give me a reason why I shouldn't push this car off a cliff.

Having the exact same problem...everything practically taking into consideration parts replaced and still nothing. I hope someone can help us out.

The only thing I HAVEN'T replaced in the last year is some of the hoses. Evap, exp. valve, condesnor, compressor, drier ALL new.

 

Was the proper amount of oil also added to the system?

Did you measure the pressures at about 1500 engine rpms?

 

had the same issue in my cummins, turned out to be dust on the front side of the a/c coil and is was basically all muddy (lived on a dirt road so dust got on/around the coil)
back washed the coil via the drain hose and viola cold a/c!!

 

No I measured at idle. What should I be looking for at 1500?

 

Your high side pressure looks too low and the low side looks too high for 95F. But the service manual states that pressures should be taken with the engine idling at 1500 rpm, so it's not possible to evaluate your pressures. Redo the measurements with the engine idling at 1500 rpm.

Skip step one and instead hook up your manifold gauge set.

 

Btw the new compressor had an oil charge in in it from the factory.

As for the pressures I will re test them and be back with results late tonight or tomorrow

 

also if your 134a retro fit, put 80% of the maximum r12 requirement

 

A few things there is thermo switch ( i think it called on the compressor) a 70 dollar part should be changed when you change the compressor. Also check the switch on the dryer with an ohm meter.

 

This compressor came with a new thermo and I checked the pressure switch it's good

 

I am wondering if there is a lead problem with the a/c switch on the control panel?

 

Had a problem with a interemittent short on my control panel....

 

on my quest for colder AC I removed and cleaned the evaporator with some simple green and a pressure washer. remember to get new O rings for the lines at the firewall if you do this.

I noticed an immediate difference.

 

Evap is less than a year old and so is the control panel. The compressor is running just fine anyway

 

I have executed the test. I have tried for life of me to decipher that chart but I'm at a loss. I beg assistance.
Here are my readings:
Temp outside: 89f
Temp at intake: 86f
Temp at vent: 68f
Low side pres: 30psi
High side pres: 225psi
Humidity: 76%

 

You readings above taken at 1500 rpms?

The numbers are way low.

You know what I mean by control panel? The panel in the dash.

 

What should those numbers be? Yes it was 1500 rpm.

I replaced the control panel. Fan switch blend lever/buttons and all! It got shorted out by a bad wiring harness which I also replaced

 

Based on the service manual chart, you should have measured around 49 PSI and 390 PSI on the low and high sides.

 

Hello all...

I wanted to ask a question about the high side pressure readings. My needle has a constant jittering when the compressor is running. Its only hovering from about 200-225 psi at idle.

Sorry if this a noob question...first time here and trying to learn how to decipher those charts too!!

Thanks for the help with the charts! I was able to do some more leak checking and found the expansion valve is leaking. Going to replace it soon i'll let you know how it goes!

during vacuum, pause and hold. watch the gauge for a few minutes. walk away for half an hour. it must hold 29 inches of vacuum. if not, you have a leak.

 

Basically the low side is low and high side is low as well, typical signs of a bad expansion valve.
