Default 6th Gear Randomly Goes?

I woke up one morning, heading to work, and on the drive there, I noticed that my 6th gear doesn't work. All the other gears work fine, and shifts like normal, and even with the car off, 6th doesn't budge whatsoever.

I checked the fluids, and to see if it is dirty, but everything looks fine. Anyone have any answers or solutions for this?

Someone may have swapped your S2000 for a 5 speed Miata - check this thread for differences: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-s2000-5/s2000-miata-can-you-tell-difference-2955544/

Otherwise, sorry no idea.

on a serious note, park your car turn it off and go through the gears as if you were driving, when you get ready to go from 5th to 6th youre gonna have to force it, repeatedly keep forcing it until it becomes smoother then have your transmission fluid changed, pray that you havent totally ruined your syncros not from the fix but from what you or someone else did to cause the problem, good luck-Justin

I parked the car as soon as I could, and went through the gears, and there's no budging from 5th to 6th. I don't wanna use all my might to force it in there as I don't wanna harm or break anything down there. All the gears shift fine, I just don't understand...

I highly doubt you'll break anything down there, now turn the car on and continue, you must keep trying to push it threw back and forth through the "stuck" gears, even try giving the car some throttle as if youre take off in that gear....you have to keep working it, good luck- Justin

No...the trans should go into each gear easily. You shouldn't have to force anything. How is that a good idea/solution? The OP's shift forks/linkages might be bent or something. I doubt it's a synchro issue since it won't go into 6th even with the car turned off.

Well, from my experience, this worked for me and several other members and was I simple band aid fix until money was saved for a transmission swap/rebuild...ultimately I think the OP needs new synchros

Why synchros? The car wont go in to gear while turned off either.

Unless the OP is pushing the selector into reverse by mistake, or something else like that is going on, its probably an internal issue with either the gear itself or the linkage or shift fork.

Or we've been trolled.

Attempting to force it back in can generally tells you how bad it is, if it goes back in after some muscle then you possibly deformed something, however if it doesnt go back in no matter how much ***** you give it then you have a serious problem, some people have been able you get 6th back but its a band aid fix until a transmission swap/fix
OP do you skip gears when you drive? Good luck-Justin

Thanks for the input guys, I haven't had the chance to have it checked out yet, but from what I am getting on another forum I am on, others suggest its linkage or fork as well. We shall see hopefully this week.

Justin, I do not skip gears when I drive.

This is more common at the track, but this has happened to me many times.
Justin is Correct. Just force it in and out. Change your fluid to penzoil syncromesh. Drive it.
If you do otherwise, your wasting your Money.
Yes it has to do with the syncros, It will last a long time still...years if you take care and dont abuse it.

OP, trust me the best way to fix this is to straighten out 1st, 6th, and Reverse gears.

With the car in neutral, shift into 6th
then shift from 6th to 1st
then 1st to R
Now from R, go back to neutral, then to 6th to align it
After that shift to 1st, and slowly accelerate up to 10MPH.
While the car's going about 10MPH, try to shift into R
After that, your shift gate should have free'd up and 6th gear will no longer be your problem.
