Default Noob question

I recently got a built gsr head from my buddy(he blow the block and parted everything else). It's ported 2.0l. My question I have an LS non vtec, I want to put it on my LS block. Is that fine? Also I plan on building the bottom end also or do I need to get a gsr bottom?

A little more info may be helpful. 'Ported 2.0L' sound a bit odd, since it's the bore size and stroke in the block that control this, not the head. However, if your buddy has bis block bored to (say) 85mm then yes some porting shops will increase the combustion chamber size in the head to match. If you put that head on a stock 81.5mm bore block you may get a bit of 'shrouding' that leaves dead spots where the wider chamber traps gas-air against the block. I don't know the consequences relative to the head gasket either.

So, be careful and measure everything - chances are you'll be Ok - but a relatively stock head may be as good or better unless you bore your block to match. Maybe trade for someone who has sleeved their block and need the extra diameter c-chamber.

It is stage 1 pocket ported, but not polished for better flow. The valve and valvesprings are OEM Integra Type R. The retainers are Crower titanium. The block: The compression ratio with B18C1 P72 GSR head is about 11.2:1 using a standard thickness (0.030") head gasket. I was running a thicker (0.040") head gasket and GSR head and was at 11.0:1 compression. It is a 2.0L NA USDM B18C1 bottom end. Built by Mike Laskey with Benson sleeves, CP pistons, Eagle H beam rods, balanced LS crank, OEM bearings, ARP crankshaft pulley bolt, ITR oil pump, ITR water pump, timing belt tensioner, rear coolant passage, thermostat housing, oil breather box w/ PCV valve, oil and knock sensors, and Golden Eagle VTEC oil squirter deletion plugs. The head was built by mike laskey also. As per my friend.

Depends what you want... Gsr block or ls/vtec... if you want a true ls/vtec you could do an ls crank in a gsr block (poor mans stroker) you just have to remove the oil jets... If you do ls block vtec head make sure you use the golden eagle kit as they last longer.

I plan on turboing it out. I just didn't want to buy a gsr block if I didn't have to. I plan on doing the same to my LS block as the gsr block is.

make sure you get the crank balanced and get an aftermarket block girdle as it will help hold the revs better ... ls was built for only like 7k not saying people havent reved them higher but better safe then sorry
