GPS tracking alarm. Theft rate?
if you have something like lojack with the alert system to let you know when your car is moved the chances would be extremely high. there's only one way to block a lojack signal and it's using jammer technology that's not something your average thief would have. guys doing stuff like that would be targeting lambos, not type Rs
if you don't have a garage and or park in risky places, spending the $$ on lojack is worth a lot of peace of mind

hard to say how many are legit. the itr still has a strong insurance price and a guy can go to the movies with his girl while his buddy "steals" the car. dude comes out, gf freaks and you call the cops with a witness as to where you were. meanwhile the car is sitting in buddys shop with a bunch of parts for your next build when the check comes.

DEI just came out w/ a brand new unit that allows you to track the car from an iphone/droid. I'm picking one up and will have it installed w/in the next few weeks

are you on droid or iphone. I heard the iphone gets you instant status updates but the droid doesn't as yo have to log on to check the status of the alarm. Still I think thats a great to have. o
whats the name of it? I have been trying to find a good GPS but most of the early ones got pretty crappy ratings/reviews. Lojack included. For the price of Lojack, I want a little more insurance that action will be taken. I have heard feedback from LEOs that the lojack recovery is not all that guranteed. Remember, it doesnt take long to strip these cars.
In for the name and cost/ updates etc. I will go to great lengths to protect my car if it is a worthy product.

i'm not encouraging people to do it, just saying it's beyond common with some folks.
I hope thats not the case. If it is can you guess who's getting an iphone??
The model number for the unit is VSM250, you can use it as a standalone tracking system by just hooking up power and ground, or if you have a dei alarm or a alarm remote start combo that has a pci plug

I'll have a write up soon as on the new dei unit vs mobile iq vs computrack vs autopage c3. I'll say dei even thou has cool features. It really lack in some departments. It will be in the a/s/v fourms withen a week or two.

1. For me, the battery life is realistically 3-4 day because I have it hidden in a place where it is surrounded by metal. Plan to charge it 1-2 times a week if you do not hard wire it to your car.
2. The best signal I can get with it shows up as 80% and that's outside in the open. When its hidden in the car, the best I get is 40-60%.
3. When you arm the PS, I have found it's GPS perimeter to be very unreliable. The idea of this system is that when you arm it and let's say your car drives off while armed, it will notify you. The problem for me is that I can drive 15 miles or even 25mins away before I receive an alert. I'd prefer to be notified earlier.
4. They are based in Canada and when you send a payment to them, your credit card company may charge you an international usage fee.
The positives:
1. The iPhone app works great.
2. The GPS position queries are quiet accurate.
3. When a perimeter breach occurs, Blackline will email and text you or other people you designate to receive updates.
4. The web interface is good.
5. The Entourage PS is not a permanent install in your car and its portable. You can move it from car to car without issue as long as you have access to it.
My overall experience is good. I wanted a portable unit and from what I saw, this is the best unit for the money. I received a free year of service so until that runs out, I'll keep using it.
Feel free to ask me any other questions.
Looking forward to the reviews on the DEI module. Press release makes it seem as though its simple plug and play, which is a plus.
I drove my car 3+ hours to have my alarm installed by a member who specializes in "stealth installs". Thankfully, the alarm has never come into play, but if it does I am confident it will do a decent job. I would love to have a module that I can simply plug and play myself, as opposed to having to get it installed all over again!
If anyone else installs it please share, or at least PM your take on it. Very interested, but have been let down by the earlier offerings, so I am not holding my breath. The gimmicky FB compatibility on the DEI unit already makes me question it...
