Default JDM ITR Tranny>> LS 5th gear swap

1) Was looking at some treads on this. From what it looks like, all you need is the main and counter shaft gears and that's all ?

2) Is everything in the JDM ITR tranny compatible with the 94-01 LS 5th gear ?

3) Any important things to know when doing this swap ?

4) Would 90-93 LS 5th gears work ?

Thanks

It is a simple swap of the 5th gears. You can use the 94-01 hydro LS 5th gears or the 92-93 cable LS 5th gears. There is a slight difference in ratio but both will work fine.

1) Couldn't ask for a better person to reply........ Whats the process for putting the new gears on... is the splines marked so it lines up a certain way ?

2) taking the gear off you use a puller....do you have too press on the gears or can it be tapped back on ?

Thanks

The gears do not need to be aligned on the splines, just install them like the gears that you remove. I don't use a press on the B series beecause the gears come off and go back on fairly easy. Honda Bull has a really good thread showing a step by step rebuild that may help you out - https://honda-tech.com/forums/transmission-drivetrain-127/b-series-transmission-teardown-rebuild-tutorial-2443459/

If you have questions or need help during the install, feel free to give me a call and I will talk you through it.

I have a J1 transmission that I would like to install the LS 5th gear set. Any LS 5th gear should work correct?

You will need the 5th gears from a USDM 1990-1991 Integra LS to fit the J1.

I will PM a price to you.

Yes. Using one LS gear and one gear from something else will result in shredded gears. Using two gears the correct ratio from two different transmissions will result in gear whine from different wear patterns.

Let's raise the dead

How much teeth are the LS gears ? Guess there is no other way to recongnize it?

94-01 hydro LS or 92-93 cable 5th gears will work on a S80, right?

92-93 LS 26X35 2 ID marks on gear tooth
94-01 LS 25X35 3 ID marks on gear tooth
Either one will work on S80 as a match set
