ls 5th gear into itr trans questions
im sure its possible to do but how hard on a rating of 1-10 would you say it will be to put my ls 5th gear into a itr tranny. my friend wants to sell me his itr tranny for $900 with only 55000k on it... mine is fine but has 176000k on it. and i will be boosting real soon, dont know how its going to hold up, plus i want it because of LSD...what does the crowd have to say?

It is doable. Make sure when you swap 5th gears, you change both the counter and main shaft gears. Also the final drive, make sure you swap both the ring gear and the countershaft.
I got this from another member when I asked him about installing a B16 5th into my LS Tranny

You do not have to swap the final drive in order for the 5th gears to work.

if your LS trans is fine, why dont u just get an LSD for that? those ITR gears are pretty short, especially for a boosted LS, but its not terrible.

Because in your other thread, you wanted to change final drives. I answered two questions in that thread.

yea i see now, i misinterperated it. I have another question since you seem to know your ****, can I just swap lets say a B16 FD and make it rev faster? I am running a big turbo and the LS is kind of hindering my spool up....especially in 5th gear cruising while trying to pass cars.
