Help 00 SI temp gague goes full hot on startup

My temp gague goes full hot as soon as I start the car. The previous owner replaced the sensor and it did not fix it. The fan works and the car is not overheating. Any ideas of where to start troubleshooting this?

sounds like a wiring or gauge problem..the wire might be grounding out somewhere

Yeah trace the wires to the source and see if it is crossed with another wire or something.
