94 prelude tach problem
Just purchased a 94 prelude with an h22a1 5 speed in it. only owned accords with f22s before this car and man i gotta tell ya this h22 feels great. absolutely love the car everything works great except one problem. the tachometer will just not work. all other gauges work absolutely fine. i have been scouring the internet for days to try and find a usful wiring diagram or info. on what lines i need to check.
at regular driving speeds and idle the rpms stay at 0. the only time the tach moves is when i floor it on the highway. also there is a weird electrical sound coming through the stereo that seems to change when the engine speeds change which im guessing is a ground somewhere
where are all the grounds that i need to clean/check and what wires/connecters/modules could be causing the tach not to work.
thanks in advance for your help. lovin this h22 so much i thinking im gonna buy another one to swap into my cb7 very soon

check the grounds on the thermostat, but if the only thing that doesnt seem to be working is the tach, take apart the dizzy and check the connection of the blue wire on the ignition module, i had mines pop off and the intial symtops were it started being very jumpy, then died, and it would jump a few times when i revved, and then eventually stopped working all together. turns out the wire was loose and just popped off.
sounds like its a loose wire to me

took off the distributor cap today. im guessing its the blue wire that connects to the bumper side of the distributor. seemed to be a little crooked. straightened it out and put everything back together and still no tach.
can't find the ground on the thermostat either. i notices the blue wire copmes off the ignition module and goes into a two wire connector along with a black wire. the blue wire stays the same while the black wire turns into a yellow wire. where wopuld i trace these wires to find out if they have a bad connection. the wiring diagram in my chiltons manual sucks.
also i found the tach test next to the passenger side shock tower. anything that could have gone wrong with that?
the only grounds i have been able to find is the one that is next to the power steering pump. where are the other ones located. also the blue tach wire is supposed to be connected to the side of the module correct
