I would just get the company that rebuilt it on the phone and tell them to send you another one. There is no telling what else could be damaged. I would be pissed and raising hell with whoever shipped it.

Look to be a casting part. Don't think it can be fixed.

Anything can be fixed, it's a question of it being worthwhile, this definitely is not.

If you have your stock head still just have a reputable local shop rebuild it, call the company you bought the broken head from and ship it back at their expense.

Seller doesn't have anything to do with it. You're gonna have to file a claim with the shipper.

This is why you always get shipping insurance and write "contingent upon inspection" right after your signature. That way when the shipper says "you signed for it" you can say "find the ticket, it says contingent upon inspection".

Is it basically a cam cap? Can you remove those 4 bolts and take it off? If so, it looks like you may be able to swap it out.

^^ He's right, it's a separate piece. Should be able to swap yours but, need to have it checked/shaved just like any other head repair.

Sorry, didn't realize what you were saying.

yeah thats what i was thinking, ill just replace it when i do my head swap, i bought the head just to avoid having to go to the machine shop to get the head mild, and this head came with all new parts so its not a bad deal.

You'll need to find another cam cap and then get it line bored at a machine shop.

You'll still need to get it line bored once you get the new cap.

What part do you think needs to be line honed?

That end just takes a cam seal.

The head and the cap, the last cam journal runs in the other side of that cap.

There's no cam bearing? The cam rides right on the cap and head?

Yes. Even if there was you'd still want to get it line bored though, the heads and cam caps are are cast without the holes for the cam, the holes are bored later, so they're not in exactly the same spot from one head to the next (we're talking thousands of an inch differences here) so if you use a cam cap from one head on another the hole may end up being a bit ovaled.
