D17a2 head damage on delivery!!!! SOS!!!
I orderd a rebuilt head for my d17a2 engine and it got damaged on route to my house. Now my question is, is it fixable? Here are some pics to show! Im not a mechanic so im going to have the put on so what is the extra damage price range to get fixed?:
I would just get the company that rebuilt it on the phone and tell them to send you another one. There is no telling what else could be damaged. I would be pissed and raising hell with whoever shipped it.
Anything can be fixed, it's a question of it being worthwhile, this definitely is not.
If you have your stock head still just have a reputable local shop rebuild it, call the company you bought the broken head from and ship it back at their expense.

probably not worth fixing but i wouldn't do anything till i talked to the seller/shipping company and complained.
Seller doesn't have anything to do with it. You're gonna have to file a claim with the shipper.
This is why you always get shipping insurance and write "contingent upon inspection" right after your signature. That way when the shipper says "you signed for it" you can say "find the ticket, it says contingent upon inspection".

^^ He's right, it's a separate piece. Should be able to swap yours but, need to have it checked/shaved just like any other head repair.
Sorry, didn't realize what you were saying.

yeah thats what i was thinking, ill just replace it when i do my head swap, i bought the head just to avoid having to go to the machine shop to get the head mild, and this head came with all new parts so its not a bad deal.
Yes. Even if there was you'd still want to get it line bored though, the heads and cam caps are are cast without the holes for the cam, the holes are bored later, so they're not in exactly the same spot from one head to the next (we're talking thousands of an inch differences here) so if you use a cam cap from one head on another the hole may end up being a bit ovaled.
