Default Car isn't shifting properly!! HELP!!

Sup guys?? Welll, ever since I got my Lude every once in a while, now becoming more common, it get's VERY difficult to get my car into ANY gear. I thought it was my clutch fluid..si I topped it off. It was working fine for a few days..but then again..it blocked me out of shifting into first.
It is weird. When I park my car and put it into first, if I push in the clutch to start the car...the car will move forward a little bit... all the while being in first gear with the clutch pushed ALL THE WAY in. While the clutch was still pushed in and the shifter was in first the car was behaving like an automatic car. The car was driving slowly forward...while the clutch was all the way in. If i came to a complete stop..the car wouldn't stall out but if I let off the brake again..the car would roll forward again like an auto tranny. The shifter was stuck in first all this time. I couldn't get it out. What I had to do was pull over...turn the car offf, start it back up...and it worked fine.
Any ideas what could be wrong?? Tranny fluid?? Clutch??? Clutch master cylinder?? Any ideas???
Please help. This is becoming very scary and I am having the feeling of unreliabilty about the car. Fortunately I have another car but I don't want to be stranded somewhere or get into an accident over this.
Thanks,
Andy

I had the same problem. It was really hard to push into any gear and when I got it in first it was rolling forward. I had a clutch master cylinder that needed to be replaced. Are you loosing pressure on the clutch.

Cecknight, I am not losing preesure in my clutch pedal. It is weird. This morning the same thing happened. I went to start the car with the gear in first, I do this to test the car..usually I put it in meutral, and the car rolled forward as I was trying to start it. Again, I could not put it into first. I turned the car off, shifted through the gears while it was off. It went into gear fine. Then I started up the car and it worked fine.
Any ideas???

Have your syncros check, master & slave cylinder, clutch & flywheel, also check your tranny fluid....

I think it might be your clutch/pressure plate worn.

Sounds to me like you need a new clutch! Do you know many miles are on that clutch? But you said it will work most of the time fine but it is only once in a while that it will act like this? If that is the case you might have a blown rear main seal wich is letting oil get into the tranny. The oil gets on the clutch and will make it slip and slip. But the oil might not always get on or not enough oil gets on it. I would check the tranny fluid to see if there is any oil in it. But it could be almost any of the other things that have been listed. When it is working fine try this. Set the Ebrake (asuming it works well) and slowly let off the clutch. Keep going untill the car sounds like it is going to stall or the clutch starts to slip. Don't do it too slow as to burn the clutch. If it slips you need a new clutch. If it doesn't slip then you might want to see if you can adjust the clutch or the master cyl. Good luck! It isn't your syncros because that would only make it grind when shifting. It would not make your car move if you start it in 1st. Also I would always start the car in Neutral so you don't burn out your starter.

Well guys, it happened again. I got locked locked out of going into ANY gears. The clutch pedal feels fine. The shifter just gets stiff. The only way I can cure it is if I turn the car off......and row through the gears with the clutch in. At first it will keep me locked out but after a few seconds it will let me row through the gears. .while the car is off. Then when I start it back up it works fine.
Does this sound like a mater cylinder problem?? DAMN, this is pissing me off.

so when you shut the car off it is still hard to shift into gears? If that is the case I might lean towards the shifter linkage. Maybe something is bent or needs oiling or something. I am thinking it has to be something like that then if this is the case because if something was bent inside the tranny I highly doubt it would "fix" itself. Pushing the clutch in when the car is off and not moving won't change anything. So I doubt it is master cyl or the clutch. I would take the console out and check everything from the shifter to the tranny.
