Default t04e, 50trim stage 5 turbine on sohc

I am building a vitara mini setup and looking for a turbo to match. This will be a weekend car looking for probably 350-400 hp. I was originally going to use a t04e 50 trim with the stage 3 turbine but was wondering if a stage 5 will work as well without too much lag. Would like it to be decently streetable.
The head will be stock but possibly later upgrading the cam and valvetrain as well.

Will the stage 5 turbine have too much lag?

STick with the Stage III. The stage 5 will lag you down a bit, and is not matched well with that compressor wheel. Once you have slightly larger than 75mm exducer on the compressor side on something that's over 55lbs/min only then should you consider a stage 5.

The 50 "trim" is a 49lbs/min compressor wheel with a 75mm exducer. Stick with the stage 3

What kind of lag would I be looking at? 1-2k rpms or minimal lag? The reason I ask is that I can get a really good deal on a stage 5 turbine.

It could be over 1-3K. there's no exact way to tell you. But regardless of deal I strongly recommend against it.

What you fail to realize is that the reason why it is such a great deal is because the person selling it can't use it either.. (Because it is the wrong combination)
