Re: So people understand the difference between a stage 3 and stage 5 wheel... (FFgeoff)
so stage 3 is about 2.25in. across and stage 5 is about 2.5in.??
Will that mean more lag for the stage 5 since it's bigger or just pushing more air but the same spool up?

ok so the stage 5 is bigger but for a B18C will it make a BIG difference, going for 500hp. The garret (T3/60-1 (.82 AR) stage 3) is a lot cheaper than turbonetics (T3/60-1 (.82 AR) stage 5) but i don't want to sacrifice performance for a couple hundred bucks.
so which one???
thanks

in my opinion, you should be able to get 550whp out of the stg 3 and also have less lag than using the Otrim wheel(stg 5)

I'm using a 60-1, stage 5 wheel and the exhaust wheel/outlet size is about 2.5" so that is right on. My lag isn't too bad, takes a little more RPM to spool the turbo up but once it does it comes on strong.

To be exact on the specs Stage III has an exducer diameter of 2.229"/major diameter 2.559", the Stage V exducer 2.439"/major 2.798", The T4 wheels N trim exducer 2.071"/major 2.922", O trim exducer 2.296"/major 2.922" and P trim 2.544"/2.922". So the Stage V wheel's exducer is actually bigger than the N and O trim's but the major is smaller than all T4 wheels. I myslef have a T3/60-1 Stage V wheel .82 A/R turbine housing, may eventually go to a straight T4 or T61, we'll see after the motor is back together. HTH Geoff I'll be getting in touch with you hopefully this week.

Geoff, is it correct that the stage 3 wheel on turbonetics' is the highest, and stage 5 for the garret's? When majestic upgraded my turbo, I was under the impression 3 was as high as I could go.

Re: So people understand the difference between a stage 3 and stage 5 wheel... (apexii)
the stage 5 wheel is only available on turbonetics, and innovative turbos, i am not totally sure about precision becuase i cant decipher their codes. I actaully am going to call them and talk a bit today.
SiRkid, youre gt30 is a superior design to a stage 5. Not much better but slightly better
FWIW FFgeokstar and FFgeon were over last night getting their breath all over two turbos, one is a 60-1 BB with stage 5 .63 a/r and one is a 60 trim t04e with a stage 3 .63 a/r
the ball bearing turbo (obviously) got going way faster than the other, but we tried to make a video on my digital cam but it was too dark. oh well maybe next time.
Boostfed, thanks for the info, i was told misinformation apparently...
