Will stock "axleback" bolt to generic aftermarket "resonator pipe"
Hello,
Basically, I'm trying to fix a hacked up exhaust job from the previous owner, and return it more to stock. The car is a dx and the current exhaust set up is as follows. No-name header(megan?) and a no name 2.25" catback, that are welded together via a "test pipe". I'm mainly looking to quiet her down a little, and before I order a stock axle back, I want to know if it will fit onto my aftermarket generic resonator pipe. Also, if you see any other way to put it closer to stock without me having to address the welded bits, feel free to chime in.

Thanks for replying. Sorry if my exhaust pipe nomenclature is off. When I refer to the catback portion I am referring to the pipe that is immediately downstream of the cat position, weather there is a cat there or not. The flange for this pipe is a 3 bolt flange.
Okay. If you're talking about back to front then it kinda makes sense. Hard to give you a direct answer if that pipe is aftermarket. A guess would say yes, it should, but I couldn't say for certain.
It really depends, if it's a direct fit aftermarket intermediate/"B" pipe then yes a stock axleback will bolt up. If it was part of a kit the probably not. The easiest way to do it right is get an intermediate/"B" pipe and cat for an EX coupe/sedan along with a stock axleback from either a coupe/sedan or hatch depending on what it is. A stock replacement aftermarket intermediate pipe and cat will work fine. I'd try to find a real muffler though, the aftermarket ones seem to buzz.
Just buy a whole new set up man.
My brother has an eBay header back exhaust and its decently quiet and sounds nice. Consists of 3 resonators, eBay header, and the full exhaust set up.

For anyone paying curious, or for future generations. In my case I was able to fit a stock axleback onto a aftermarket b pipe.
