Timing belt adjuster pulleys.....repacking them with grease.
So i was able to crack open both tension pulleys timing and balancer...without harming the plastics....I shot compressed air to wipe them clean of the crudded up and hardened old grease in there.
Then shot it with some silicon Liquid wrench...then packed it with some axle grease the red kind...high temperature. Then used a couple of sockets to drive the UNBROKEN plastic seals in as well as finish "packing" the grease well into the ball bearings inside there.
Anyone ever done this? Im only posting the question becuz some bearings do better with other greases...and well this is what i had in the shed.
The pulleys went flying when given a spin via hand and just silicon spray inside...but after i packed them they were plenty stiffer to spin. Now when i've repacked other bearings this is not a problem becuz say for a wheel bearing the forces driving the wheel will overbear the bearings easy so stiff or no stiff to spin that bearing is going to hustle.
Just wanted to see how "free-spinning" you guys find your new ones may be.
Like I said on the LiqWrench it went flying like a skatewheel...once packed there is now a little more tension......a spin now produces 2-3 free rotations. But on the experience side of things....this should be just right for another 20 years of service bind free. If I left them too loose it would probably cause more wear on the ball bearings.
But do correct me if im wrong. If this is a no no for religious zealots then forgive my sins. And do offer advice ....but no I will not buy new ones.
I already regret not buying a cheapo balancer belt and it did cross my mind to do so not knowing exactly what this "balancer" belt did. I Still have not found any info on the nature or rythm of both left and right balancer shafts...and for that matter how to slap on the gear unit on right hand side correctly to avoid bad vibrations.

Engine
Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. It might pose some engine damage if the ***** bearing should fall out.
You're right about stiffening the bearings. It is bad for it to spin too freely. Don't take my word, but I think i spin it hard, it goes like 1-1.5 turns? I would suggest "renting" those tensioner pulleys to see how they spin when they are new.
Might want to consider a service manual. OR if this is a 90-02 4 cyl Accord, you can look up DIY Timing belt in the Accord FAQ's.

They can't fall out they are held in place by a small cage that you would not be messing with.....but I do understand some hesitation.
Thanks for the input....I appreciate it....and will likely take up on renting just to get a feel of the new ones as an extra step.
