Default Vtec Issues

I just had my motor rebuilt and vtec would work only for about 10 min of the drive. Change oil pressure sending unit because of a leak, oil levels are up. But then there was no check engine light and and speedometer was working fine. Today i just replaced both gaskets on the solenoid. When i started the car the CEL came on. I disconnected the battery for about 10 min but that didnt work either. Then i noticed not only was my CEL on but my speedometer didnt work either. Right now i dont know what else to do and im OBD1 so i cant plugin and get a reading. Anybody have an idea?

Since you were in the area, you may have tugged or pulled the VSS pigtail. Check to see that it is still connected. And with OBD I you can check the codes by jumping the blue two wire connector under the glove box with a paper clip. Watch how many times the CEL light blinks and get back to us. Probably code 17.

Glad you got it....off topic: Is that "all you can eat" Catfish resturant still there in Garner?....Schroeder's or something like that....ok, so it has been 20 years, so maybe not..

Well i thought i got it but i guess i will have to go back and try the CEL reading. As far as the restaurant goes I think i have heard of a good Catfish place in Georgetown somewhere around here but im not sure about Gardner.
