noisy suspension
hi guys, i'm starting to get really upset about all the noise coming form my suspension, every little bump makes it squeek, what can i do? on sun i sprayed the GC's and the ingles kit and the Illuminas with some silicone lube, but still sounds horrilbe
If you got the Ingalls kit with urethane bushings, they make your car feel more substantial than the rubber ones. The trade off is more noise from them. I hose mine with white lithium grease. Quiets them longer than anything else I've tried.
I never noticed much noise from my front Ingalls kits, the rears used to be fairly noisy, hence the lithium. Nowadays they make almost no noise, and/or I've gotten so used to it I don't hear it.
yeah i've got lots of different noises, one from the GC's which is like a squeek, one that might be from the ingals kit which is more like a crackly noise, and then i have a sharp screetchy noise that might be from the shock, i dont know but i'm going nuts!

hose down the camber kit with the lithium grease, roll down the windows, rev up the engine and just drive LOUD! you'll get used to it after a while...although i know it sucks at the beginning

yeah, i just wish it didnt do it. makes me feel like the car is falling apart. plus its not very smooth when i'm pulling up slowly to ladies or whatever and its all squeek crunk crrrrkkkaaaaassssquaaakkk!!! ahhhh!
one thing i've heard of that supposedly works, is to replace the top of the shock/spring cap with either a new one, or just buy some weather stripping and put it between the spring and cap. i've never tried this, and i imagine it would be a pain in the *** unless you did it when first installing the suspension stuff, but it seems like it would work

hrm, that sounds like a good idea. if i jack the car up i have enough room that i could probably work with the spring, i imagine i'd wrap the top coil right? i'm not familiar with weatherstriping, what material is it? where do i get it? thanks!

Mine sqeaks a little bit, not annoyingly so though, cannot really hear it over the radio or engine/wind noise when moving, just when going pretty slow with windows down and no radio do I notice it.
It's sticky backed foam rubber. It's usually sold in a roll. It's for lining the inside of your door jams to form a greater thermal barrier. I use it to seal car speakers better. Hmmm...maybe I should put some on the doors too...naw, I don't wanna waste it.

My springs stopped making noise when I turn the steering wheel while stationary though.
