I may be getting a job that will require me to spend about 4 hours a day in my car. GREAT PAY so what's 4 hours!? Anyway that time spent will blow goats if I can't get more out of my stereo!!!!!!!!!! I wanna upgrade my stereo & have been out of the stereo game for a long time!!! I want a deck that has rear iPod hook up(s), iPod control from the face, & that puts out a good power so I don't have to throw in a 4 channel amp right away or atleast until I decide which speakers I'm gonna upgrade to. Looking to get great sound through out all the different types of music I listen to!!!! Even better once I decide on a component system. I DO NOT WANNA BE PLAYING WITH THE EQ (on the deck) SETTINGS EVERY OTHER SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REAL QUESTION:
What deck are you using to control your iPod & why??? Pro's / Con's??? User friendly??? While we're at it which speakers are you running & why???

Understand & thought about that. Most of stuff is thru iTunes, Gomusic, & uploaded CD's. And alot of the songs are of HIGH bit rates...

W/that being said look into nakamichi if your not that attached to controlling the iPod through the deck. 47x4 watts RMS (4ohm). You'll never need an amp...and its mad JDM yo.
There is not another HU on the market that can touch this rated power or sound quality. But its pretty straight forward, no extra buttons or BS like that. Not many people know about it and/or mention it for that matter. I've been using this head unit since I was 16. You can still find one here and there...

my current setup is..
Alpine CDA-105 HeadUnit
Alpine SPR-60C (Front) Alpine SPR-69C (Rear)
Alpine MRD-M500 Mono Sub Amp
Alpine MRV-F340 4 Channel Amp
Alpine SWR-1023D Sub
139.90 from amazon for the head unit...

I think it was like 300ish when I first bought it a couple of years ago, does pretty much everything you could want a HU to do.... CD (audio/data), MP3, WMA, AAC, USB Port (in back), Ipod-Iphone, Bluetooth, SAT radio
I personally also bought about 4 of the 16gb thumb-drives to use with it. For different types of music, so I can keep things organized. (they are cheap has hell now)
Have them all labeled for what type of music is on them, makes life easy lol and the USB port in the back comes with an extension.. so you can keep your crap in the glove box.
I think they said it also charges your Ipod/iphone, not sure as I don't have either of them but it comes with that connection also.

I have been in the car audio buisness for 6 years. Alpine is great but prices are high for some peoples budget. Kenwood and pioneer both offer units at an affordable price. Check them out Kenwood is my favorite, And get an exelon series they come with a extra year warranty. Good luck
