NEED HELP ON PRESERVING ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION LIFE!
I JUST BOUGHT A 2006 HONDA CIVIC SI AND WAS WONDERING WHAT TYPE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID I SHOULD BE USING BECAUSE I HAVE HAD SHIFTING PROBLEMS BEFORE AND I WANT TO TRY SOMETHING NEW AND ALSO WHAT TYPE OF AIR FILTER WILL GIVE ME THE BEST GAS MILEAGE, AND ALSO THE BEST ENGINE OIL FOR MY CIVIC...AND ANY TIPS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I tried all different brands of air filters, as far as fuel miles they are all about the same, there is no difference in them except for the fact you can clean the k&n once and a while.(at a upfront cost opposed to buying new paper one once and a while)
I think you get the same performance unless you go into a something without all the twists and turns like a add on unit.
I would use the brands of oils you are comfortable with, and change them more than required by the mfg. after all they want you back to buy another car, if this one dose not wear out they can't sell you a new one.

aem dry flow is my fav. excellent filtering(better than K & n) and has an excellent compromise of filtering and air flow.
oil is whatever, put in any SM/SN rated oil. Synthetics really just help with longer oil changes.
tranny oil: Amsoil MTF if my fav.
u want long engine life? warm up maybe 30 secs before leaving, drive under 3k until its fully warmed up, little vtec and use highway whenever possible.

I've had great results with OEM tranny fluid, OEM air filter, and Castrol GTX oil with K&N oil filter. Aftermarket air filters let more dust into your motor and really don't provide much hp gain (1-2 hp for a K&N drop-in filter).
