auto tranny jumps in reverse not a blown mount!
what up ht! okay so i bought a 97 lx 4dr automatic. had a blown motor, replaced it wit a 99 ex y8 but kept my 97 lx auto tranny. so heres the deal when i put it on reverse the motor/tranny jumps up like pretty ugly but when i put it in drive its fine. it feels like a blown mount the they are all good! the tranny drives fine in both drive and reverse its just when i put it in reverse does it jump. oil in the tranny in new and filled to the right amount sooo idk much really when it comes to auto tranny so im hoping someone here knows why it does this.
thanx ht!
thanx ht!
Double check for external problems: Idle RPM, loose bolts, worn mounts, etc. See what happens if you hold the brake while in reverse and stab the gas - Does it jump and bang? If it seem fine and only has harsh engagement when shifting to reverse, it could be a worn 4th accumulator or sticking servo valve in the transmission.

You need the Y8 tranny. You will start throwing a P0700 and P0715 code eventually, sometimes it takes a week or two to show up though, and it will shift a little funky. I have noticed a delayed engagement when shifting into reverse as well.
If you are using the original 97 LX transmission and PCM it should not set the codes. Usually the code problem only happens when the PCM and transmission are mismatched.
