MCU vs ECM
Hi,
Hope someone here can help me out!
In my '02 RSX, the AC, keyless entry, emergency brake indicator light, interior light, door chimes and variable/intermittent wiper function all failed at the same time.
After reading a thread on another forum (http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=727714), it looked like all I needed was the MCU (pn 38200-S6M-A11 for the base AT), but my mechanic offered to check out my car (no charge), just to be sure, before I ordered the part.
But he feels I need the ECM (pn 206-39-02857). Some websites I've read say the MCU and the ECM are the same part, but others say that the MCU is a component of the ECM.
He wants $300 for a used ECM, but I can get a brand-new MCU for less.
Can anyone tell me if the MCU and the ECM are the same? If they're not, is it the MCU or the ECM that will fix my problems?
Any help is appreciated! It's hot here in Florida and I could use my AC!
Thanks!
