beginner engine builder, measurement comparison..(micrometer vs. plastigauge)
i am beginning to get into actually assembling blocks from scratch, and measuring bearing clearances and what not, and i had an idea about what i can do as far as comparing measurements to make sure that the're as dead-on as i can get them.. and that is to take my measurements with the micrometer/bore gauge, do the subtractions to get the clearances..and then put plastigauge in the bore and torque everything down to double-check. Does this sound like an extra-''safe'' method to making sure everything is all put together right?
pls forgive me if i sound all noob-ish and what not by asking this, but i've had a couple issues with measuring things like piston-wall clearances in the past due to my pistons being out of spec according to what i measured, and i could never be too sure about the measurements and i'd like to be 1000% positive all my measuring is dead-on before i try to put together a fully running engine.

I would do it for the first couple mains and see how your calculations match, if they match then no need do all
