Reuse mahle pistonrings in new block?
Hey
I just got my car back from a huge rebuild.. Noticed now my block is cracked in a coolantline just below the header :< ! !
Anyways gonna change the block now.. Cba to run with that..
Thing is, the pistons only has 3-4k km on em.. And now changing the block should I get new piston rings?
I've tried to email Mahle but no answer ..
What do you think
Best regards Rasmus Mikkelsen

If the rings are only 3-4K of use, you'll be ok with them. When I was in my engine rebuilding class, we re-use the old pistons & rings even after we honed the cyl walls. Engine ran fine after we got done with the overhaul.
But doesn't hurt to get new ones since everything will have to come apart again.

Bringing back an old thread to live..
I'm also considering re-using my Mahle pistons from a H22 in a H23 block.. Do you especially need Mahle rings or OEM H22 rings are also ook?
It's the coating on the pistons and not the rings (also) that make them RFM compatible, or am i mistaken?
Else where can I get Mahle rings? I've looked around without any luck.
Thanks.

I would contact Mahle about it.
If the Mahle pistons use the exact same thickness rings as OEM, you could use them for sure. When using Nippon rings with OEM pistons I had good luck, but same idea make sure the thickness is correct.
