Default jdm h22 race questions

I have a 96 civic with the jdm h22 motor, LSD tranny, with 15 inch tires. I took it to a 1/8 mile track last night and it spun the tires all the way down the track, I have good tiRes and tried launching at 4 grand, and 5 and both times it happened. Wat can I do to gain more traction?

What tires do you have on the car? Brand/model and size?

traction bars, bigger tires, slicks, less horsepower, start in 2nd gear...the list goes on and on

Well, if you are just spinning all the way down and you don't have wheel hop issues, then tires and weight balance would probably be a good place to start. Get some stickier tires, drop the PSI, get more weight up front if you can, etc.

What is your suspension setup? You might be having too much weight transfer to the rear....

preloading the suspension may help some.

wow!
lol 2nd gear...
4k 5k? way too high on said tires. you need slicks and lots of practice.
otherwise keep practicing control of that fine line.

I'm damn near at an idle when i launch w/ street tires.
still learning my slicks
you have to take into account the track as well, day time, night time, its all gonna change things.

I've been told 60' and 1/8 mile is all driver, the rest from 1/8 to 1/4 mile and trap speed is the car. So the answer is do whatever it takes to get your 60s down. Slicks make a huge difference.

Starting in second is legit too, if all you do is spin through first, first becomes more like a "granny gear", skip it.

your exactly right. and it was my first time runnin an 1/8 so i guess its gonna take a little practice. maybe launch a 2g on street tires? i think i trapped out at 8.2 spinning the entire track. so i might have high 7s with somewhat of traction. the guy i was running was runnin a b16 vtec so of course i still beat him lol.

I know on slicks all my friends are launching at much higher than that, 7K or better with B-series motors. I was launching my H at 4500-5000 on street tires and getting 15 flat with full interior and subs. That's also in a 92 'lude, so take it FWIW.

I'm one of only a handful of H-series owners here in town [they like their B's and D's around here] and my 'lude is down right now for a turbo build. Once the current motor comes out of that, I'll have and H2B EG build too and I'll have a better idea on launching a Civ with an H in it.

Also, I've never run 1/8s, only 1/4s.

1/8 mile and 2nd gear pulls is kid stuff. if you're that confused about your car... stay with the 1/8

24.5x7x13 or 24.5x8x13, somewhere in there for the Civic, if you have a brake upgrade, you may need to go up to 14s or 15s.

Slicks questions for your setup are more body and upgrade specific. You might want to look around in the Civic forums a bit for help depending on what all you have done to your chassis.

depending on how hard you will be hooking you should go with better axles to or you will be riding home in the tow truck

better to break axles than transmissions, unless you're breaking them every time you track ...

Axles $50, transmissions ... hundreds
