Ek hatch vs ep3 hatch
I don't know if this is the right forum, but I'm curious to see what other people think about my question. I have an ek hatch with a 99 front end conversion with an itr swap. I bought it as a shell and i put the itr motor in it with 20k on motor. Now around 30k. There is a guy willing to trade me straight up for his ep3 with 160k. Body is in good condition. Clutch feels like there's nothing there and gas pedal is hard. Idk if that's how the ep3s are or what. What it be a good trade to give him my ek with itr swap and his ep3?? Any questions, comments, anything. I have no idea. Thanks!
post pics of both if possible....
ep3 newer but less power, only 160hp at the crank if i remember correctly
i wouldnt do, your swap is worth more then i would pay for the car.

Resale value of 96-98 civic hatchback with swapped motor and converted front end - $4000? (Honestly I think you'd have a nightmare of a time trying to sell your car. Look in the marketplace here. Cars just sit for months at a time)
Resale value of EP3 - $5000-$7000
Seems like a logical decision to me if you care whatsoever about resale. If you plan to keep the hatch forever, then carry on.

Absolutely not. EK > EP3. EP3's are slow, have crappy output K20's and terrible transmissions. They are also alot heavier, and it has 160K on it meaning its not a good starter mod platform without a rebuild.
I would honestly only consider the trade if the EP3 is super clean and you are just looking to sell the car. But still with 160K miles, unless its mint its going to be hard to get a good price for it. If your not looking to just sell, then like I said in the first line; Absolutely NOT.

Thanks. I told the guy I'd rather keep my ek. I looked at it again today in the day light and it had scratches and dents. A door was replaced. And the tranny mount was broke and where it bolts to the frame, it was welded and needed to be rewelded...just to name a few things. So it needed work. And I know how my hatch runs and how everything is cause I did everything my self.
keeping the EK is a good choice, stock EP3's aren't much to write home about. and ya the clutches are soft last one i was in it felt like i almost put my foot through the floor. your EK hatch sounds pretty good, the EK handles better, and an B18c5 will be very missed if you went to the weakest K motor made.
Yeah I thought about that there's a reason he wants to trade so bad for my car. He still keeps calling and texting me about it after I said no. And I felt like my foot was goin thru the floor too. It was weird. I drove his ep3 and my hatch is def faster. His feels like a boat to mine
EK with and ITR engine is faster. I think EP's are cool! But for that trade I'd say NO because the ITR engine already says don't trade it. ITR engines aren't made anymore and if you have one, hand it down your your kids as a family heirloom! If it didn't have an ITR engine yeah trade it off. Whats an EK hatch with B-series (non itr or ctr) ........... just another EK hatch with another B-series. But who all can say they own a baby odyssey (ep3) that will grow up one day and sprout 2 sliding doors and become a true champion !

it's not that they are bad, it that there are better cars out there
I remember when i went shopping for a brand new car in 2002, i look at the EP3 here in Canada, it was $27,000! I decided against it, and paid $300 more for an Acura RSX. For the little extra $$ spent, it came with 16" mags. heated seats that were leather covered, automatic climate control, and i feel it handled better too
