Just wondering what everyone's best 60fts on 24-25" slicks are?. The reason I'm asking is because I havent installed traction bars on my turbo EK yet and I'm cutting similar, if not better 60fts than other local guys WITH traction bars and bigger slicks (I'm on 24" slicks). So I'm trying to get some insight on when they seem to become absolutely needed before I jump the gun on ordering some for the project.

I had a 96 EK hatch with KSport suspension, Omni Power rear lower controle arms, CX spindles with Stock everything else, car was 2356lbs with me in it, on a 24.5" (2 season old MH slick on 13 x 8.5" Bogarts)... was cutting consistent 1.63-1.69 sixty foots on wastegate (15psi)

NO TRACTION BAR

Best 60' was a 1.60 (on the 3rd pass on a new set of slicks , also MH 24.5")

PS: i did notice the more power i had in 1st gear the slower the 60' times , for obvious reasons.

Nice, I'm getting the same, consistent low 1.6's as well and my car weights 2362 without me in it.

I'm wondering if I can cut 1.5's with a little more boost without traction bars

 

What tire pressure has worked best for you?

 

those are good 60' times, even with a traction bar
my best was 1.59 with one, never ran without one

roomates EM1 is on MT 24.5x7 on skunk2 coils no trac bars
and goes 1.62-1.64 all day
not sure how old the tires are as they came used from someone off here lol

 

When u have less power u can get good 60 foot times the more u have the worst

 

1.64 was my best withouth a trac bar on 24.5s , that was on 10 psi in a car that makes 505hp, got a bar and bigger turbo now but havent been the the strip yet

 

1.62 without. never ever installed one on my cars. didnt feel much of a need to

 

Anyone see why its a decent idea to have traction bars?

This is a 10 sec pass in a eg coupe on a 25 with out traction bars.

 

Then how are guys making 300whp+ more than you cutting better 60fts

8-9 psi or less

 

1.61s consistantly stock trans without lsd and on stock axles...24.5x9-13 MT

 

Consistant 1.6x 60 foots open diff no traction bars. Best to date is a 1.600 @ englishtown last year. I got a diff and a set of bars this year. Haven't made a pass yet.

im sure the OP didn't mean it wasn't a good idea to have one.. But as far as 60' times its roughly the same with or without.
