Default Header leak not sure how to fix

I thought the leak was coming from the manifold gasket or the donut gasket but when I got it up onto the lift I noticed it was coming from there the 2 peice header come together. Since there is no gasket how could I seal this up. I noticed it was leaking when I was driving you can smell exhaust inside the cabin. What do you guys recommend? 2 ideas I had were exhaust wrapping the header or removing the 2 pieces and putting hightemp RTV on all the tubes.

Thanks in advance

What if you sprayed copper gasket in there?

remove the pipes first then spray it and re-assemble? Eventually will the gasket melt away?

Did you remove the springs before taking the picture or do you just not have them on there? If you don't have them on there then that is definitely why you have a leak.

How about install the missing hardware that it looks like you don't have?

Nope it didn't have the springs when I got it. I guess they are more important than I though. I figured since it's bolted on both ends with would move. How do they keep them from leaking?

Heat will expand the inside pipe. Get some springs. Should seal up fine.

I agree. Buddy's Tri Y had a similar deal. Got it welded. No more leak.

I also agree. But he doesn't have the hardware to correctly fix the problem..

I got 4 springs today and installed them also as a back up I put some RTV inside all the tubes. I just wanted to make sure it was sealed because I don't feel like crawling under again and wasting 2 hours of my sunday working on it.

I see what you mean with the springs, even with the tubes on there was a little back and forth play on them. With 4 springs it won't be able to move on its on. Hopefully it works, just giving it 24 hours for the RTV to dry up and I can drive my baby again. It's been at least a month, I will miss getting high on exhaust fumes from long drives though hehe J/K

Is that not a good idea? It was Permatex High Temp RTV silicone.
