Default hey guys i have check engine light woes and need help

hello, and thank you for all future help................For the past month i have been having some issues. i have a d16y8 swap fully converted to obd1 with a rywire like standalone harness. I got the car tuned and it was running pretty good for a night or two but was throwing 2 codes. IAT and VSS. so i was stuck in limp mode when i plugged my vss back in i was able to go to rev limiter, and i replaced the iat with another UNKNOWN working one. what made me start messing around with the IAT and other things is the car is running super rich to the point where it sounds like the car is misfiring under acceleration and sometimes idle.

my problems are as followed
1. i cant check my codes anymore not even when i grounded d4 out (plz help me)
2. i am running super rich is there anyway my computer can like detune?
3. is there any other way i can get the computer to check the codes?

the check engine light comes on then goes off when the fuel pump primes but after about 6-7 seconds it turns on again and never leaves
thank you

so you sent the new motor harness with the old motor harness to rywire? and they made your new hybrid harness? or did you get it used from someone? sure the ground where you are grounding the ck eng wire to is good? and you know it has to maintain continuity to ground in order to flash the codes right? did you have the light on before it was tuned?

wow thank u so much for quick response, the motor harness is a rywire clone it is brand new but wasn't made from them, the check engine light was working previous and i would ground it to the same spot (yes i know it needs continuity) the last codes it threw were IAT and VSS like i stated

my old hatch did this, i had to have the chip re-tuned and it was ok after that.. i had the battery disconnected for like 3 days due to dropping the transmission, i guess when the ecu dosent get power for long enough it resets the tune, thats what happened to me anyways.

i personally havent had this happen to me but it sounds possible. it is a semiconductor after all. For the codes i would start testing continuity from each sensor plug back to their respective locations at the ecu plugs, this should help you find out if you have a wiring problem or a problem with the iat itself. you may have to buy extra leads for your multimeter, and get a buddy to help. print off a obd0 pinout and a obd1 pinout and make sure whoever did the harness did it right. maybe they didnt solder and used crimp connectors. this of course should be only for the obd1 specific plugs or the plugs that had to be lengthened.

o yea was the cel on immediately after the swap was completed? if so that would indicate problems in the harness conversion. if they turned on later it would indicate loose connections or inadvertent damage.
